Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said Bangladesh and China will move forward together to advance their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which will bring peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of both countries and the world. Terming China as Bangladesh’s ‘closest friend and most reliable partner’, the Principal Advisor expressed gratitude for China’s long-term trust, assistance and support to Bangladesh.
The Principal Advisor made the remarks in a video message at a grand reception organized by the Chinese Embassy at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday night to mark the 76th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations.
Warmly congratulating him on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations, he expressed gratitude for China’s long-term trust, assistance and support to Bangladesh.
The Chief Advisor praised the remarkable achievements made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in various fields such as economic development, technological innovation, poverty alleviation and serving the people, as well as its inspiration and contribution to the Global South and the international community.
At the event, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen said that 2025 is not only the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, but also the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. He recalled China’s immense sacrifices to maintain world peace eight decades ago and highlighted its transformation into a major power with a strong record in peace and security.
The Chinese Ambassador said, “Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have achieved the miraculous success of eliminating absolute poverty. China will always be a force for peace, stability and progress in the world.’
Ambassador Yao emphasized that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative has received widespread international support from various countries, including Bangladesh, which is a model for strengthening multilateral cooperation.
On the occasion of the golden jubilee of Dhaka-Beijing relations, the Chinese ambassador said that the two countries will always be ‘good neighbors, sincere friends and reliable partners’ based on good relations guided by respect, sincerity, strategic autonomy and equal cooperation.’ He added, ‘China is ready to continue to assist and support Bangladesh in its journey of modernization and write a new chapter in building a China-Bangladesh community in the future.’
The chief guest of the event, Economic Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, praised China’s contributions to Bangladesh’s development infrastructure, education, science and technology and healthcare, and stressed that such cooperation has brought tangible benefits to the Bangladeshi people.
Cultural Affairs Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui, who was present as a special guest, said that the two countries have developed a deep bond between their people. China-Bangladesh relations have now reached an all-time high.
The reception was attended by more than 600 guests, including Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan, Chief of the Air Staff, senior leaders of major political parties, foreign diplomats, representatives of international organizations, members of the Chinese community, academicians, media personalities and think tank experts.
